Alfredo Opisso Cardona Watercolor Painting of Three Women, C.1950

C.1950 pencil and watercolor painting by Spanish artist, Alfredo Opisso Cardona (1907-1980). The colorfully attired ladies are beautifully detailed with brush strokes that give their clothing a visual texture. The umbrellas are a wonderful touch that add a bit of whimsy to the scene. Opisso was known for his Catalan modernist style and this piece offers both a folk art vibe and a modern aesthetic. Framed in white and gold painted wood with a Tiffany blue mat…outfitted with wire for hanging. Signed in lower left corner.

Overall in good vintage condition with some age related spotting as shown in photographs 8 and 9. The wood frame shows wear with some paint loss. Originally the watercolor was behind glass which was broken and has been removed. Could be replaced if desired.

The watercolor in frame measures 25.75” wide x. 24” tall x 1” deep. The painting without frame measures approximately 15” wide x 13” tall.
