Martin Camarata has been both a Professor of Printmaking and a Chair of the Art Department at California State University, Stanislaus for 37 years. He earned his Masters in Art from New York University in 1957, and attended Albright Art School, Buffalo, NY and the University of Rochester, Memorial Art Gallery School, NY. Camarata has exhibited his work extensively nationally. Some of these include the École des Beaux Arts, Paris, France, The Philadelphia Museum and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC. His numerous awards and honors include a Fulbright Grant in Painting and Printmaking, Rome, Italy, and the Lily Foundation Summer Grant from Stanford University. His works are in numerous public and private collections in the United States, Europe and South America, including the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of Art, the World Print Collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Museo Belles Artes, Caracas, Venezuela.
